On October 10, 2010 the South Bay 350 Climate Action Group participated in 350.org’s 10-10-10 Global Work Party.
10/10/10 was the biggest day of practical action to cut carbon that the world has ever seen. It truly was “A Day to Celebrate Climate Solutions”–together we got to work in our communities on projects that can cut carbon and build the clean energy future. But we didn’t stop there–we used the day to pressure our leaders to Get To Work themselves by passing strong climate policies promoting clean energy and reducing emissions. Millions of people came together to take action locally: including bike repair workshoppers in San Francisco, school insulating teams in London, waste-land-to-veggies-gardeners in New Zealand, and solar panel installers in Kenya.
Here in the South Bay our 350 Climate Action Group partnered with the City of Manhattan Beach for a wide ranging Sustainability Summit, Eco Fair and ocean friendly garden installation and we partnered with the South Bay Bicycle Coalition for PedalPalooza, a ride through the seven cities of the South Bay Bicycle Master Plan culminating in a celebration at Rock & Brews in El Segundo.
