GOP Concerns About USA-China Agreement Addressed and Satisfied by South Bay Clean Power Program
Great news for new Senate Majority leader, Senator Mitch McConnell, and House Majority Leader John Boehner, both of whom immediately expressed mild concerns about the climate agreement between the United States and China announced last night:
This unrealistic plan, that the President would dump on his successor, would ensure higher utility rates and far fewer jobs…” said Senator McConnell.
… it is the latest example of the president’s crusade against affordable, reliable energy that is already hurting jobs and squeezing middle-class families,” added Representative Boehner.
The two GOP leaders will be super excited to learn that with Community Choice Power programs like Marin Clean Energy, Sonoma Clean Power and the soon to be launched South Bay Clean Power, utility rates actually go down along with the greenhouse gas emissions while renewable energy goes up.
Also going up is the number of jobs and the amount of local investment in the communities where these Community Choice Power programs bring local control to cities and counties along with millions in cost savings and the tool they need to meet ambitious climate action plans.
Since the numbers don’t lie, and Republicans, Democrats and Independents are all supporting these successful and effective programs here in California, we expect to see the same thing now happen nationally – and to see the economic benefits and greenhouse gas emission reductions we know all of us want.
