Our Man In Africa – Duclos’ Final Day of Training

That’s Al Gore (above) on stage in Johannesburg, South Africa at the Climate Reality Leadership Corps training as seen through Jeff Duclos’ camera at the event.

South Bay 350 Climate Action Group Advisory Board member,  Duclos is in Johannesburg, attending the Climate Reality Leadership Corps training from Al Gore and a host of other experts.  Here’s his latest report and photos from the other side of the world:

Entering the last day of training and will be on the plane tonight heading back home. I have had an incredible experience. There is much to share from it and it will take a while to synthesize all I’ve learned and put it into a form that works for me as a presenter and that will best speak to members of the South Bay community. I certainly have been given the global perspective I was hoping to be exposed to. Sitting at my table for the conference are people from South Africa, Uganda, Batswana, Canada, Australia and a mentor from St. Louis – all united by the call to affect change and save this planet a community at a time, if need be.

This is one of several small rock gardens around the estate where Mandela died. The rocks are all ascribed with personal messages to him.

It is more clear to me than ever that we are all in a moment of choosing. The signs are everywhere. We have just experienced the 12 hottest years in recorded history. The energy trapped by man-made global warming pollution is now the equivalent to exploding 400,000 Hiroshima atomic bombs, per day, 365 days a year. But we can win this struggle and I can’t wait to share this news as well. See you soon.
